Pressure and flow requirements change from model to model, so check the sheet for the unit you are considering.

Pad and Enclosure Load of a 2500 kW Set

The footprint and weight of a 2500 kW set drive most of the site work, beginning with the concrete pad. Kohler gives the KD2500 open radiator model a maximum size of 273.9 in. long, 114.8 in. wide, and 130.0 in. high, and a maximum wet weight of 59598 lb. Those figures cover the open set only. A Sound Level 1 or Sound Level 2 enclosure and a sub-base fuel tank add to the footprint and to the load on the pad, and Kohler marks its dimension drawing as reference material rather than an installation plan.

• Foundation: Size the pad from the certified drawing for the exact configuration, whether open, enclosed, or tank-mounted. Spring isolation under the skid is standard on the KD2500.
• Enclosure choice: Level 1 is an aluminum housing with internal silencers and bracing for 150 mph winds. Level 2 builds on it with as much as 2 in. of insulation, secondary silencers, and an upward air outlet.
• Tank under the set: The double-wall sub-base tank meets UL 142, mounts below the skid, and includes a fuel leak detection switch.
• Airflow around the housing: Kohler offers radiator packages for 50 C (122 F) or 40 C (104 F) ambient; an enclosed silencer takes 5°C (9°F) off that rating, so leave room for air to move.
• Code approvals: IBC seismic certification and California OSHPD pre-approval are listed for this model, which matters for anchoring in seismic zones and for healthcare sites.
